Donations and Legacies

When a beloved pet dies some people like to honour their pets life in a way that benefits other animals. A donation or legacy can be given to an animal charity to help prevent suffering in animals and rehome the thousands of unwanted animals.

Through our involvement with various animal charities over the years, it became apparent that many of the smaller charities are often overlooked in favour of the larger well known animal charities. This is by no means a reflection that the volunteers who work for the smaller animal charities, are somehow doing less for the welfare of animals, and whilst the larger charities often receive funding, the smaller animal charities have to rely soley on public donations. It is for that reason that I have chosen some smaller good causes to benefit from donations/legacies.

Our Chosen Causes

Donations or Legacy?

DONATIONS

A donation of any amount can be given as a one off payment or made on a regular basis to one of the organisations or if you prefer we can arrange to have your donation divided equally amongst all of them. Anyone wishing to make a donation, can do so by Credit Card or Cheque, in return you will receive a letter of thank you and receipt for your payment from your chosen organisation. Credit Card payments can be taken by calling the Pet Undertaker on 0845 46 55 999.

LEGACY

A lot of people never get around to making a Will, and for those that don't, your property will be split in accordance with the law and not necessarily as you wished. If you have no relatives and you don't make a Will, everything you have will go to the state.

There are three main types of legacy -

  • Residuary Gift - all or part of your estate.
  • Pecuinary Gift - a gift of a particular sum of money.
  • Specific - this is the gift of a specified item of value.

If you have already made your Will you can still leave a gift to your chosen charity, by adding a codicil to your Will, enabling you to leave a legacy whilst ensuring other provisions remain the same. Legacies are precious to charities because they help secure the future of the charity, and they are the guarantee that the good work they do for the animals can continue for years to come. Anyone wishing to leave a legacy should in the first instance contact their Solicitor, or other legal body who writes Wills. They will in turn verify the status of the charity, once the details have been finalised, if you contact us we will notify the charity, or if you prefer to remain anonymous to the charity we will respect your wishes. In return you will receive a letter of thank you and aknowledgement of the legacy from your chosen charity and/or the Pet Undertaker. If you wish we can regularly update you on the progress of the work being carried out by your chosen charity.
